“…I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”
Deuteronomy 30: 19-20
There are many decisions that we have to make on a daily basis, and the consequences of our choices range from minor to monumental. God has given us this wonderful gift of free choice and He expects that we use it wisely. When we weigh our options, we should choose that which agrees with the word of God and is approved by His Spirit.
God gave the Israelites a choice and He carefully explained their options. Option A: They could obey Him and follow His commandments. In doing so, they would reap the blessings of obedience and be positioned to receive the promises of God.
Option B: They could disobey Him and turn from His commandments. As a result, they would be cursed and not inherit the land that was promised to them. Unfortunately, some chose Option B and died in their sin.
God offers us the same choice: a) Believe in His Son, follow His commandments and prosper or b) disobey and die. What do you choose today? No one can choose it for you, it’s your personal choice. If you choose to live, heaven is on your side. Today, in your current situation, with all the issues facing you, choose to obey God, choose to follow His Word, choose to love, to forgive, to serve, to praise, to be thankful. Your circumstance does not define you and God’s faithfulness does not fluctuate. He is completely faithful at all times. Choose life and cling to Him!
