Your Word for This Day: Patience and Comfort

Monday, January 28, 2013

“Whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.”  (Romans 15:4)

Today, take a few moments to count your blessings. From the beginning of your life to this very moment, God has been so very good to you! Recall the ways in which He has saved you, changed you, provided for you, protected you and loved you. God is oh so faithful and you are oh so blessed!

One of the greatest blessings that you have is the Word of God. In it, God has provided you with the way to get to know Him. God desires that His children learn who He is and what His character is like. God also wants His children to know who they are in Christ, what belongs to them and the power that is within them by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. As we learn about God’s heart and His purposes for mankind, we gain patience and comfort. Patience, because we see that God is faithful to fulfill His promises in the lives of those who trust Him, and comfort, because the records show that God never abandons His children, even when they make mistakes.

I encourage you to enjoy reading your Bible today, it will show you that you can feel confident in your hope in God – He has given you every reason to!

Declaration: “The word of God is life for me. I will walk in the light of its truth and rest in the love of its Author.”
