“But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor…”
Luke 19:8a NIV
There has always been a push to acquire more, do more, and know more. We always want more! There are people in this world who are never satisfied until they have the latest, greatest and most sought after, and when they obtain it, the quest is on for the next best thing. This cycle can be expensive, obsessive and very time-consuming. But does life have to be that way?
Progression is important. God wants us to mature and develop as we become who we were born to be. He wants us to be equipped and prepared for what He has designed us to do. It is God’s pleasure to meet our needs and to bless us with material things so that we can walk in purpose, but He doesn’t want what we have or what we accomplish to define who we are or take us away from Him.
Zacchaeus was willing to live with less so that he could fully embrace the life Jesus offered Him, a life of peace, love and acceptance in Him. Are you willing to put the pursuit of knowing and loving Christ above everything else? Only in Him you find your true identity and the place where you belong. And that, my friend, cannot be bought or earned. It is a gift given so that you can enjoy all that God offers to you.
Declaration: “I belong to Jesus Christ. In Him, I am fulfilled. In Him, I am accepted. In Him, I am loved. In Him, I am found.”
