Your Word for This Day: I will love you faithfully!

 Friday, March 15, 2013

The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying:
“Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love…”
Jeremiah 31: 3a

True love is rare. We read of it in books, hear of it in songs and dream of it in our hearts. But, it is not often manifested in the hearts of men and women. True love, love that is not motivated by selfish desires, greed or lust, and that which lasts beyond the moment is an absolute treasure. Not only does it add meaning and beauty to life, but it is also a mighty weapon against the forces of darkness because God is love and those who love are of God.  True love is powerful!

True love is available to you! You may think that you will never experience this type of love in your lifetime, but you can. God says to you today, “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love.” His love for you has been settled before the world began, before you were born. Nothing that you did or did not do will change that. His love is everlasting. His love is eternal.

His love is lavished on you, but not in the way you may think. God does not send flowers—He created all of the flowers of the world. He does not send chocolate—He created the cocoa plant, and the sun and water that causes it to grow. He does not send jewelry—He created the gold and the men who fashion it into pieces of beauty. God does not send a lifeboat to rescue you from the storms of life, He comes Himself. That is the God who loves you. He gives you His very self. Nothing else will do.
