“His delight is in the fear of the Lord,
And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes,
Nor decide by the hearing of His ears;”
In a commercial in the early nineties, the sports drink Gatorade® used the phrase, “Be like Mike” to sell their product. Through advertising, they suggested that if a person wanted to be successful like Michael Jordan, the basketball player, they had to drink what he drank. To some extent this strategy worked—today Gatorade® counts for about 75% of the sports drink industry revenue. People still want to be like Mike!
How many people today want to be like Christ? Who wants to do what He did to be as successful as He was? Are we willing to meditate on the Word, fast and pray, be obedient, and submit to the Father’s will so that we may glorify Him and achieve our divine destiny? Are you willing to be like Him?
One of the ways we can be like Christ is to live by the Spirit and not by the flesh. As Isaiah prophesied, Jesus was not ruled by His senses. He lived in a higher dimension of life because He walked in the spirit at all times, and we can too! He did not judge by what He saw, or decide by what He heard; He spoke and acted according to the will of God.
So, I ask again, “Who wants to be like Christ?” Who is willing to do what it takes for the character of Christ to be formed within? I pray that your answer today is a resounding “Me!” Surely, His word will be performed in you!
