“I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create calamity; I, the Lord, do all these things.”
To-do lists, schedules, time frames, timetables, agendas, programs… our days are filled with goals to be achieved, assignments to be completed, targets to be met. Although these aids of organization help to increase our productivity, even with the strictest of order or the tightest of schedules, we are never fully in control. Things happen. Children wake up sick, coffee spills on blouses, trains run late and we are left to readjust and rearrange even the best of plans.
The only person who is in control at all times is God. That’s why you must stay in fellowship with Him all through this day. He will guide you safely through the obstacle course that your day can sometimes be. Everything that exists—light and darkness, peace and war—is under the authority of the Sovereign God because have created everything. If you take a moment to reflect on how big and powerful your God is, you will surely see that your life (every aspect of it) is in good hands. You have nothing to fear!
It is in the human nature to want to be independent and in control, and to assert power, but that’s the old sinful nature operating. In Christ, you are a new creation and you are learning to totally depend on God. God is in total control. Give Him a high praise today and trust in Him who is fully in control! He will lead you right and empower you to overcome!
