Your Word for This Day: Humble Beginnings

“Who has believed our message? To whom has the Lord revealed his powerful arm?
There was nothing beautiful or majestic about his appearance, nothing to attract us to him.”

Isaiah 53:1, 2b NLT

You have a purpose. God has designed every person on this earth to accomplish a specific destiny. In God’s scheme of things, you have an important role to play. You are valuable to God.  Unfortunately, not everyone walks in this understanding. Not everyone taps into the greatness that God has deposited in them. Why is this so? Do you have difficulty believing that God will do something great in and through and for you?

One of the main reasons why we find this so hard to believe is that we think of our past as if it were our future. We think of our beginnings as if it were our endings.  Let me explain.

You may think that your beginnings were a little bit “too humble”. You weren’t born into a royal or wealthy family. You grew up on the wrong side of the track. You went to an average school (or you left school entirely!). But, why does this discount you from being used by God?

Jesus, the Son of God, was born in a manger, among animals, without a diaper cake in sight!  His own people did not accept Him as the Messiah because they did not see Him as anything special. Yet, that did not change who He was. What people think about you does not change who you are, unless you believe them! Today, know for sure that you are special to God and have a divine work to do!
