“Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil.”

Proverbs 3:7

By: Apostle Diann J. Wilson

Do you know of anyone who always knows?  It does not matter what the conversation is about, that person will chime in, “I know!”

Many of us are like that.  We never learn much because we always know.  Such people are wise in their own eyes. People who are wise in their own eyes are unteachable and self-opinionated. As children of the Light we must never fall into that category.  We must be teachable.

Jesus told his disciples in John 16:13, “However when he the spirit of truth has come, He will guide you into all truth…” We cannot afford to be wise in our own eyes for we are not yet perfect beings.  We need the Spirit of truth.  He teaches us how to fear the Lord.  He guides us in our daily walk. He helps us to stay away from evil and seek good.

We think we can do it by ourselves. But we cannot. Our Helper is the One who does it through us. God has sent us a helper, in the person of the precious Holy Spirit.

Today, promise yourself to use the help that has been given. Call on Him, chat with Him, depend on Him. Do not be wise in your own eyes and in your own way. Be wise in the Lord. Live in the Spirit.

Blessings!
