“People may be right in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their heart.”
Proverbs 21: 2 NLT
By: Apostle Diann J. Wilson
So many times we think and act as if our way of doing things is the only correct way. We are quick to dismiss the advice of others who may be more experienced than we are in a particular area. We hate to think that we may be wrong about something.
Many an argument could have been avoided, and important relationships saved, if the persons involved had stopped and thought for a moment that their way may not be the only right way or that their thoughts on an incident may not have been accurate. The “I am always right” attitude does not lend itself to good relationship with others. We must be willing to see things from the view-point of another person.
Today’s scripture emphasizes this important truth: God examines our hearts. God is examining our hearts at all times. Jeremiah tells us that God is the only one who can search the heart of man (Jeremiah 17:10). It will do us well to keep in mind that our hearts are always being examined by the Lord. He knows the true motives behind all actions.
Let us not think that we are always right. Today, find ways to seek peace with others and don’t be afraid to let someone else have the last say.
