Your Word for This Day: Healed and Set Free!

“Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.”

John 5:14 NKJV

We pray for it. We fast for it. We dream about it. We talk about it. Then it comes… the breakthrough, the miracle, the healing, the promise. In the moment of answered prayer we rejoice, and rightly so, but if we are honest, sometimes we don’t know how to embrace our blessing – we don’t know how to occupy our new found “place” in a way that brings utmost glory to God.

A man was sick for 38 years, and he sat daily by the Bethesda pool, in Jerusalem, waiting for his miracle of healing. Then one day, Jesus passed by! (Aren’t you glad that Jesus comes? Always in the right time and always with the answer you need! Hallelujah!)

Jesus spoke to the man, the man got up, and was instantly healed. Jesus set him free.

And, Jesus knows us so well. He understands that unless we change the way we see ourselves and think about our situation, the change will not last.  Jesus instructed the man, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more…” God heals us – He frees us from the bondage of sin and sickness, and by His Spirit, He empowers us to stay free!

So today, whatever you do, don’t go back to the way it used to be! Refuse to see yourself as sick and broken, if Christ has healed you. In Him, you are free! Don’t flirt with captivity. Be free! Stay free! Walk free! Because turning back is death.
