Your Word for This Day: “And, Now”

Thursday, September 19, 2013

“And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me;Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle;I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD.”
Psalm 27:6

Now. What a powerful three-letter word. It speaks of the present, what is happening in this instant, what is taking place in this moment. It is related to the past and connected to the future, but it is a dimension of time –the current time, which must be lived to it fullest in Jesus Christ!

No matter the age, so many people are caught up in the past. They speak of what happened, how it was, who they were and who used to be in their life. They lament of years gone by when they used to be younger, slimmer, more popular, more agile, you name it. The past is important, it is a part of your life story, but in Christ we are new creatures. Today is a new day with a new beginning!

So what will we do with this “now” moment? Look around you, and give God praise! You are alive and Jesus is still King! God has brought you through much! He has delivered you from darkness of sin and has brought you into His marvellous light of righteousness. In Christ, you have been lifted above your enemies—the chief being satan. He wanted to steal from you, kill you, and destroy you, but Christ has defeated Him and has set you free.

Are you walking in that freedom? Are you praising God with joy for all He has done? Be joyful in the Lord because, in Christ, now your head has been lifted up.
