Your Word for This Day: The Prayer of the Righteous”

 Friday, October 4, 2013

“The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”

James 5:16 NLT

Prayer that gets result.  Isn’t that what we are working towards? Don’t we want to see the power of God manifested in and through our lives? Yes! No one prays with the hopes that God would ignore them.

Think of Jesus…He always prayed with confidence, knowing that His Father would hear Him and grant Him what He had asked for. Why did God answer Jesus’s prayer? Well, Jesus was a righteous man—He did what was right in God’s eyes—and He always prayed according to the will of His Father.

Now, you may think that you do not qualify, but, hear the good news today: although our righteousness before God is like filthy rags (it doesn’t come close to the right standard of living that a Holy God demands), through the Blood of Jesus, Jesus has become our righteousness! In Christ, you qualify to receive answers to prayer!

When we pray for the will of God to be done in our lives, with faith believing that He will answer us, and in the name of Jesus, we can pray with confidence knowing that we will receive what we prayed for. Let your attitude towards prayer shift today, as the knowledge that it is Jesus’s righteousness that positions you to receive from God, permeates your mind and soul. God wants to show Himself mighty on your behalf and to show the world through you that He is God!
