Your Word for This Day: “Prayer Changes Things”

Monday, October 21, 2013

“Then Eli answered and said, “Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant your petition which you have asked of Him.”

1 Samuel 1:17

Tormented. Ridiculed. Mocked. Such was the position of Hannah in her family. Her husband loved her, he really did, but his other wife, Peninnah, laughed at her every day because she was barren. But one day, Hannah couldn’t take it anymore. Instead of retaliating and fighting against the other woman, Hannah turned to God, the only One who is able to do the impossible, and she stated her case before Him.

Hannah prayed. She wanted to see a change in her situation. She needed a miracle. So, Hannah prayed—not that God would kill  Peninnah, but that God would do something to her– give her a baby. Whatever situation that you find yourself in, let God do a work in you.

God will silence your accusers; He will prepare a table before you in the presence of your enemy. God is faithful to His word. Use the pain that you are feeling to fuel your desire to pray.  Let the discomfort drive you to cry out to God for a change. Prayer changes things! Let your faith arise today and believe in God to do the impossible! Hannah left the temple and Eli the Priest blessed her, “Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant your petition which you have asked of Him…” Months later, a baby was born. What are you waiting for? It’s time for a change. Now is the time to pray.
