“For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.
…A time to plant and a time to harvest.” Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 NLT
In Canada, the Victoria Day Weekend near the end of May signals the unofficial start of the summer social season. People happily shed their heavier clothing and embark on their long-awaited summer fun. For gardeners, this weekend signals the beginning of the gardening season. Backyards everywhere are abuzz with green thumbs preparing the soil for a season of fragrant flowers and summer vegetables.
Those who garden, plant with confidence—expecting a harvest. They do not know what type of weather they will face during the summer months, they do not know if water will be scarce or if the sun will be scorching. They plant, they sow, with the expectation that the harvest will come when the time is right and it would have been worth the effort.
One of the principles in God’s word is that of sowing and reaping. And, just as there are seasons of sowing and reaping in the physical, so too, in our lives. Whatever is planted, will bring forth a harvest. God’s word does not lie. If we believe, we must sow with the expectation that we will receive a harvest in time to come. Do you believe God’s word today? Then sow good seeds, knowing that you will surely receive what you have sown.
