“ When you harvest the crops of your land, do not harvest the grain along the edges of your fields, and do not pick up what the harvesters drop. Leave it for the poor and the foreigners living among you. I am the LORD your God.” Leviticus 23: 22
“You are blessed to be a blessing.” Heard this before? This message has been shared in sermons, on coffee mugs and in inspirational books, and it will never lose it’s significance. We are blessed by God with so much and He expects us to use those resources to bless His people and bring glory to His name.
This was the essence of the instruction that God gave to the Israelites concerning their season of harvest. As the harvesters went out to reap the fields, they were to leave a portion for those who needed it. The Israelites were not to consume all of their harvest; they were not eat all of their blessing.
As you experience your particular harvest in your life, whether it be in finance, health and wellness, business or education, hear what the Word says today. Share what you have reaped with those who need it. Share the wisdom that you have gained, the lessons you have learned. Give of your substance. You will actually be sowing seeds again for another harvest. It’s true, as disciples of Christ, we are not under the Law, rather under grace. We have received God’s abundant favour which we did not deserve, so, we should be more motivated to give to others from the abundance we have received. Today, let’s share our wealth!
