“But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.” Mark 4:29
Flour, eggs, vanilla, baking powder, milk, cocoa powder… such are the ingredients of a yummy chocolate cake, that when mixed together, and baked in an oven, can be quite delicious. Yet, if you have ever left a cake in the oven too long, you know that all of your hard work can go in vain. Your cake will burn!
Timing is important.
When something’s time is up, it’s up! Likewise, when something’s time has come, it has come! As children of God we must be sensitive to God’s timing. What God has ordained to happen, will happen, but we must be positioned to step into it and receive all that He has prepared for us.
Farmers know the times and seasons of the field. They know when to prepare the soil, when to plant seeds, and when to reap the harvest. If they do not reap when the harvest is ready, they risk missing their season of abundance. So, they sharpen their tools, oil the machinery, eat hearty meals and rise early—they get ready for the harvest! They mentally, physically and emotionally position themselves to work, because they know that they have a window of time and they must maximize it.
My friend, you must reap in your season of harvest. This is your time. Prepare yourself to work a little harder, to rise a little earlier and to do what is necessary to get everything God has placed before you. Stay alert, stay in prayer, give thanks; the harvest is here!
