“…Beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 3:17-18)
Here we have it…the last day of the year. We have been through much. You have been through much. Ups and downs, gains and losses, triumphs and disappointments, advancement and set backs. All in all, we can look back and say that God has been good! We are still here to tell the story. You are still here to testify of the goodness of Jesus Christ. You made it.
As we prepare to begin the next chapter of our lives, we will be challenged to make changes. Whether it is to become a more positive person, to wake up earlier, to be more involved, to go back to school or to lose a few pounds, there are areas in all of our lives in which we need to improve, and I believe that if we commit our plans to the Lord and are determined and disciplined, we will achieve our goals and bring Him glory.
With this being said, this is my New Year’s encouragement to you is this: be steadfast in the love and grace of Jesus Christ.
Don’t turn away from God. Run to Him. Stay with Him.
Don’t compromise your relationship with Him in order to fulfill any other goal.
Grow in grace.
Live in the Spirit.
Do whatever is necessary to grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Spend time developing your relationship with Him.
Friend, let this one thing ring true in your 2014: In Christ, I live, move and have my being.
Happy New Year!
