“ Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6:38
By: Leigh Tang Wing
Do you know that when you give, whether to a friend, a person in need, a stranger, or to your church, you are setting yourself up for a blessing? Better than that, the Word of God says that you determine the degree of blessing that you walk in! The measure you give, it will be measured to you. If you give bountifully, you will reap bountifully. If you give sparingly, you will reap sparingly.
God is fair, He knows our hearts and what we have to give — whether five loaves and two fishes, or more. He is asking that we give our best, because when we give to another, we are really giving to the Him.
When we give joyfully and abundantly, our actions say that we trust God to take care of us. You don’t have to hold on to anything with a tightly-clenched fist, because God will provide for your every need.Giving is an act of trust.
Here’s a challenge: stretch yourself in giving today. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you how you can be extension of God’s hand to someone who is need of help. And as you do, know that God has a “pressed down, shaken together, and running over” blessing prepared for you. God has made you a promise that if you obey His word and give abundantly, you will receive abundance, and He will keep it! God’s word is good.
