Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me,  and I forgive him? Up to seven times?  Matthew 18:21

“You mean, I have to do what? Forgive? Really? Do you know what he did to me?…Did you hear what she said about me? You just don’t understand!” How often have you heard someone say something like this? How often have you said it?

Any person who has been wronged can tell you that forgiveness isn’t easy. It does not come naturally to most people. When we have been hurt, mistreated or insulted we want to defend ourselves… we want to get even. Sadly, as we seek revenge we continue a vicious cycle that ends up  hurting others—remember “hurting people hurt people.”

Today, be AWAKENED! You can’t live a victorious life without forgiveness.  My Friend, you will never enjoy the fullness of the love of God, experience the rich grace of God, live the abundant life that Jesus Christ has provided, or accomplish your life’s purpose without forgiveness operating in your life. It’s that important. When Peter asked this question, Jesus responded, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.” In a nutshell, don’t stop forgiving. We, who sinned against a holy God, have been forgiven—can’t we forgive also? Today, choose to show God’s love—choose to forgive and let go. God will help you! It is forgiveness!
