“ God is faithful, [He] will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13
“I did it again!” says the lady who finished a small bucket of her favorite ice cream. Looking at the sticky spoon and the empty container, she is once again disappointed in herself. She was unable to resist the temptation to overindulge. She didn’t plan to do it…but she was so stressed from that last meeting at work and believed that the rich dulce de leche ice cream could help, and she just couldn’t stop herself.
We live in a world that caters to our five senses, and in our society, if it feels good, do it; if you believe you deserve it, have it. Many live for brief pleasures, even if it ruins our lives or the lives of others in the long run. There is temptation to overeat, to lie on our taxes, to call in sick for work, and in more serious cases, to steal from our jobs or to cheat on our spouses.
If we give in, we will dishonor God, defile ourselves and open the door to many other problems.
God does not leave us in a world that is full of temptation and not give us a way to overcome it. He has given us Power to resist temptation and that power is the Holy Spirit. You don’t have to give in. You don’t have to compromise. You can stand. You can say “No!” The Power is on the inside and if you ask Him for help today—He will show you the way of escape.
You can make it!
