Your Word for This Day: “The Power to Endure”

Thursday, July 24, 2014

Time2 Rather than using clever and persuasive speeches, I relied only on the power of the Holy Spirit. I did this so you would trust not in human wisdom, but in the power of God. 1 Corinthians 2:4b-5

To endure. To stand the test of time. One hundred years from now, how will you be remembered? What will the books say about you? What will your great-great grandchildren think of you? Sure, they may say that you sang well, were an expert cook, or could fix any car…but what will your lasting legacy be? What would you have done to shape the next generation?

Within you is the Power to endure. Your life can continue on through your words, work, investments, but only if the Holy Spirit is leading and empowering you. He is the ultimate staying Power. He cannot be diminished or wiped out.

If you want your life to mean something in time to come, let the power of God flow through you. It’s not our clever words or persuasive speeches that really count (take it from Paul, one of the best preachers to ever live). We don’t want people to trust in our wisdom, which will fade away tomorrow, but we want them to see the power of God at work in our lives and trust in Him.

That’s the goal—the demonstration of His power, revealing the glory of God and changing lives for the better. That’s what it’s all about! What you do now, affects tomorrow.

Choose wisely.
