“…Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.” Philippians 2:12c-13
It’s not always easy to say “no”.
Most people have a hard time saying “no” to something they do not need, to going somewhere they should not be, or to doing something that is not good for them. This is even harder when loved ones and those we consider important are involved.
The truth of the matter is, when all is stripped away, we are really afraid of how others will think of us and what they will say. We don’t want to disappoint or let them down. But, in the Christian life, there are times when we will. It may not be easy or even favourable with everyone, but it will be necessary.
You have the Power within you to say “no”.
The Holy Spirit enables us to stand on the Word and to live lives that bring glory to God. We have to work out our salvation; we must decide what we will do and be involved in. With the Holy Spirit’s help, we can maintain our integrity, live ethically and remain unspotted from the world. As we journey through life, we will have to say “no” to things that are not beneficial for children of the Most High. The key is to be honest and speak the truth in love.
Your life is a powerful testimony of the power of God at work. It is He who keeps you, maintains you and provides for you. It is His approval that matters most.
