“…For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.” Matthew 6:8
In this day, many have lost touch with the true essence of the role of “father”.
Sadly, some men have abdicated their role of loving, teaching, disciplining and providing for their children. But, the role of “father” is truly an honored one. It was set in place by God and blessed by Him. Granted, it’s not easy rearing children, but God did not leave us without an example. He, Himself, is our heavenly Father, and shows us what real fathering is all about.
When teaching His Disciples to pray, Jesus began with this statement of identity: “Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.” By beginning like this, Jesus teaches us that prayer is birthed out of relationship.
As Believers in Jesus Christ, we are adopted into the family of God and become His children – His precious sons and daughters. Our identity has changed. We carry His name, and His name is Holy. It is precious, blessed, exalted, sacred and set apart. It’s an honour to have such an identity.
As a good Father, God knows what we have need of even before we ask and it is His delight to give those things to us. Today, when you pray, remember this beautiful truth: You belong to God. You are His child. He knows you inside out and He loves you so much. You can trust Him, lean on Him and depend on Him.
Take joy in communicating with Your Heavenly Father, whose name is Holy; He longs to hear your voice.
