“ Next the devil took him to the peak of a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. “I will give it all to you,” he said, “if you will kneel down and worship me.” Matthew 4:8-9
“Make sure of your commitment to Jesus Christ, and seek to follow Him every day. Don’t be swayed by the false values and goals of this world, but put Christ and His will first in everything you do.” ― Billy Graham
The last temptation that the devil brought to Jesus in the wilderness was this: worship me and I’ll give you the treasures of the earth. But, what the devil was really saying was this: “If you will declare me sovereign over and first in your life, I will give you things that are finite, limited and earthly.
Jesus resisted the temptation to worship someone other than God because He knew who He was.
He didn’t need the great treasures of this world because He knew that He was God’s Son and that the same God who created all these things, also provides for His children.
He didn’t need earthly things to complete Him because there was no void in His heart. His worth and value did not depend on what He possessed, rather, they were centered in God.
I encourage you today to spend time in the word of God to find out what God has said about you!
Do not give your worship to any one (or anything), but God. Reserve your worship for God and God alone. He who created you alone is worthy.
