Your Word for This Day: “Thank You for Another Chance”

Monday, December 1, 2014

“He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood,   the forgiveness of sins.” Colossians 1:13-14

In Christ Jesus, you are forgiven.

Do you know what that means?

God has chosen not to hold your sins against you.

He has chosen not to give us the punishment that we deserve, but to give it to Jesus instead.

Because of His love towards His creation, God gave us another chance.

Another chance to live.

Another chance to fulfill purpose.

Another chance to have relationship with our heavenly Father.

As a child of God, this is your identity—you are a forgiven person. Your past has been cleansed and your future is bright.

I know of a woman whose grandson was murdered. Over time, the grandmother, who experienced the forgiveness of Jesus herself, chose to forgive the young man who murdered her grandson. Not only that, but God enabled her to reach out to that boy’s mother and encourage her during his trial.

As a forgiven person, she chose to forgive. It was not at all easy, but God was with her.

Because of what Jesus has endured, God has forgiven you. He gave you another chance. What will you do with it?
