Your Word for This Day: “What are You Thinking About?”

Monday, March 9, 2015

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he… Proverbs 23: 7a NKJV

You can do it.

You were born to be it.

It was written in the script for your life.

But, do you think that its possible?

So much of the process of becoming who we were born to be is determined by our thoughts. We can only reinvent ourselves according to God’s design for us when we are brave enough to be honest with ourselves and take a good look at our thoughts and thought patterns.

What’s really going on in our hearts and minds?

Think of the last opportunity for change that God sent your way, whether it was a door He opened, a door He closed, a financial blessing, a job reshuffle, a trip, or a new relationship.

What did you think about? Did you think that  it was impossible? Did you think that you didn’t deserve it?  Did you think that it was too hard?

Also, how did you think about it?  Did you anxiously roll it over in your mind and talk yourself out of it? Did you think about it all night and try to figure out how you could make it on your own?  Did you give God thanks for it and saturate it with praise? Did you ask for God’s wisdom to do it? Did you think of it as a success-in-waiting or see it as similar to the last time when things didn’t work out. Did you think of it as a blessing to help you achieve your destiny or as an interruption to your life plans?

To have the good success that God desires for us, we must, with the help of the Holy Spirit, take a good look at the way that we think.

Today, write down one of your goals for 2015. Next, write down what thoughts come to you when you think about this goal. Circle the positive thoughts and underline the negative thoughts. What do you see?
