“So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” John 13: 34-35
Recently, I heard this interesting statement: “A generous receiver is a generous giver.”
As I meditated on it, the Holy Spirit began to reveal how true it is in the life of a child of God. When we are generous receivers of the love of God, we will generously share this love with others – we would not be stingy with our service, our resources, our money and our time.
Let’s take a quick look at how God demonstrated His love for us:
- God so loved us that He sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins and so that we could be accepted into His family and receive eternal life.
- He so loved us that He sent the Holy Spirit, the Divine Comforter and Helper, to help us to be transformed into the image of His Son who brings Him great delight.
- He so loved us that He placed us in families and communities so that we could have opportunities to live, learn, and laugh with other people.
- He so loved us that He gives us everything that we need to reach our greatest potential and to accomplish the purpose for our lives.
How amazing is His love.
And, as we generously receive (appreciate, embrace, and live in) God’s amazing love, we will be able to generously share it with others. We will become conduits of God’s love. When people come in contact with His love they will know that there is a God in heaven. When they encounter love, they will encounter God, for God is love.
Remember, Jesus instructs us to “Love God, love people”.
Everything hinges on this.
Nothing that we do in this life matters, unless it is a product of love. It is through love that the effect of our works will be God pleasing and long-lasting. Love makes the difference!
My friend, Iif God’s love has made such a difference in your life, just imagine what it could do in someone else’s life.
So…Will you share His love today?
