Your Word for This Day: “Walking in the Spirit”

“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. ” Galatians 5: 16-17

Jesus once said, “…It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you” (John 16:7). After His resurrection, Jesus Christ returned to the heavens, but He did not leave us alone. He sent the Holy Spirit, the Divine Helper to enable and to empower us to live as He did on the earth.

The Holy Spirit leads us and empowers us so that we can bear much fruit in our lives. Bearing much fruit brings the triune God much glory!

One of the fruit in our lives is the spiritual strength to rise above the lusts of the flesh and to not to give in to temptation. The more we walk in the Spirit, the stronger our resistance to fleshly desires and the more mature our fruit will become. The more we are led by the Spirit, the more people see Jesus Christ in us.

In Christ, you are a new person. Old things have passed away and all things have become new. You are not a slave to your flesh. You have the Holy Spirit’s power to help you to rise above you and all that threatens to hold you down.

Listen to the Spirit of God in your heart today, He will show you the way.

Blessings,

Michelle
