“In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.” John 1: 4
At Christmas time, you may come across a nativity scene: A baby, wrapped in swaddling cloth, with Mary and Joseph standing near by, and shepherds, animals and angels looking on. Yet, there is so much more to that infant with chubby cheeks and chubby fingers, who lay in a manager.
Let’s take a moment to look beyond the swaddling cloth and the hay, and see who Jesus really is. He who came from heaven came to bring us life and life to the full (John 10:10). He is the Life-giver.
Jesus is life.
This child would grow up to be a man who would save us from our sins. And, for everyone who would believe in Him, He grants them access to a new type of life – a Spirit-filled, eternal and purposeful life that far succeeds anything we could ever have outside of Him. It is a life filled with joy, peace, love, grace, forgiveness and holiness.
Jesus is life.
When He – the life Giver- came to the earth, His presence was the light that shone into hearts to reveal who God is and how much we needed a saviour. When we were in darkness, in sin and separated from God, Jesus provided the way back to our heavenly Father and He Himself bridged the gap of separation so that we could be adopted as children of God.
Remember today, Jesus is life. I encourage you to share this message of life at Christmas time. In Him is life and it is available to all. This is the true meaning of Christmas!
To His life in you!
