Your Word for This Day: “A NEW Perspective!”

“He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.” Psalm 1:3

avoiding pain

So many times we are hesitant to try again because the pain of failure and disappointment has crippled us.  However, if we really read the word of God we will understand that there must be pain if we are to gain anything of value in life.

We all desire to succeed at whatever we put our hands to and that is a worthwhile desire.  Psalm 1 tells us that God wants us to prosper at whatever we put our hands to.

However, as we read the verses before we see that there are some conditions:

  1. Don’t walk in the way of the ungodly.
  2. Don’t stand in the way of sinners.
  3. Don’t sit in the seat of the scornful.
  4. Let your delight be in the Law of the Lord.
  5. Meditate in the Law day and night.

Doing these things will cause some pain and discomfort.

We may have to separate from some people who are close to us.  We may have to stop certain actions and behavior.  We may have to develop new habits like reading the Bible regularly instead of only when we feel like.

Whatever choices we have to make, they would include some pain, no matter how small, for there is no success without sacrifice and sacrifice includes pain. Just ask Jesus.

This is the time to pay the price to gain the prize.

It is worth it.

To your growth in Christ!

  1. There is truly a glory in sacrifice. It’s like when you grow out of your young adult years and thank God your mother said NO to certain things in life. Talk about true appreciation for following those directions. God has given us guidelines for greatness, but it does cost us sometimes.

Thanks for the reminder that it’s so worth it. Obedience is better than the cost of sacrifice.
