“And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” Luke 10:27
A blessed day to you!
For many of us, we take great joy (and even some pride) in taking care of the things that we own. We clean, cover, insure, protect and more, just to make sure that what we have functions at its best and we get the most use of it.
If we take good care of our possessions, we should take better care of ourselves.
Take your car (if you own one, or at least use one). We can wash the exterior, polish it and put in a lot of effort to make sure that it looks good on the outside, but if there’s no gasoline in the tank that car will not run.
It takes fuel for the car to run.
It takes fuel for you to run (pun intended)!
As we learn to love the Lord with all of our strength, we must understand that we need the right type of fuel for our bodies. And this is about the food that we eat.
Healthy eating involves eating the right amounts of foods from the main food groups:
- Whole grains/Staples
- Legumes (peas, etc.)
- Fats and sugars (unsaturated fats)
Starving ourselves wont work, neither should we eat everything we desire without restraint. We should eat a diet with variety, but in moderation.
And, the benefits of healthy eating are many. A healthy diet:
- Improves your mood.
- Boosts your energy.
- Helps you control your weight.
- Helps your body to fight disease and sickness.
- Improves longevity.
- Improves skin, hair and nails.
I encourage you to do research. Know what you’re eating. Know what you’re really putting into your body. Yes, there’s room for a little dessert, don’t worry (chocolate cake anyone?), just take time to consider your choices and chose the best option there is. Your body will thank you!
As we make the investment into our lives, we will feel better about ourselves and glorify God in our body.
It’s a win-win situation!
So my friend, what’s for lunch? 🙂
Have a fantastic weekend!
