“Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’” Matthew 22:37 NLT

As we have been learning in this series on health, loving the Lord is a whole-being response to His love for us. We are to love Him with every part of us – our strength (physical body), our hearts, our souls and our minds.

Loving the Lord with all of our souls

Your soul is what gives you your personality and it’s through your soul that you live out your relationship with God, with other people and with yourself. Your soul likely has three major components —Mind, Will, Emotions.

We cannot afford to neglect this important aspect of our lives.  If we do then we will live a very unfulfilled life.  We would be driven by fear, anxiety, self-doubt and pity, insecurities of every kind, low self-worth and low self-esteem, and the list is endless.

Being emotionally fit is more than just handling stress. It also involves being attentive to your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, whether positive or negative.

A sick soul has the ability to distort almost everything in life and cause our perspective to come out of alignment. We need the correct perspective to live the life that God has designed for us.

That’s why it is beneficial to us to cultivate a healthy soul – one in which our minds are being renewed by the word of God and are thinking positive thoughts; our wills are submitted to God and we walking in obedience to Him; and are emotions are regulated as we practice self awareness. This is an investment in YOUR LIFE!

A healthy soul enables us to truly enjoy our relationships with our Heavenly Father, with ourselves and with others. A healthy soul helps us to enjoy the best of life!

Its time to check in… How do you think your soul is?  Do you think that your soul is healthy or sick? And why? What have you been feeling lately? Write your thoughts down.
