“And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.” Mark 12:30
Jesus told His disciples that we are to love the Lord with our entire beings – all of our strength… all of our hearts… all of our souls… and all of our minds.
Mental health is just as important as physical and emotional health and shouldn’t be neglected. A healthy mind is necessary for a healthy self because every part of us is connected. We can’t just look at the physical and ignore the emotional and mental or just look at the emotional and ignore the physical.
A healthy body + a healthy soul (heart & mind) + a healthy spirit = a healthy being and happy being!
As we develop healthy minds, we are better able to worship the Lord and to enjoy all that He gives to us.
So, what exactly is mental fitness? Well, it includes keeping your brain in tip-top shape, so that you can achieve and sustain a state of good mental health.
When we are mentally fit, we
- enjoy our lives more.
- enhance our relationships with others.
- Increase our creativity and our willingness to try new things and take risks.
- Increase our resiliency – the ability to “get back up again”.
- Increase our ability to cope with difficult times in our lives.
These benefits, along with others, show us how important it is that we make the investment into our lives by developing healthy minds.
Keeping your mind mentally fit isn’t as difficult as getting ready for a marathon, but it’s the best way to view it. We will train our brains to develop “brain muscles” and become strong so that we can endure to the end and finish strong! Today, let’s make a commitment to develop our mental health.
