Your Word for This Day: If you SOW it, you will REAP it

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Philippians 4:8

Healthy beings need healthy minds. One of the characteristics of a healthy mind is a positive outlook on life. Thinking positively is so very important in the life of an individual – especially, a believer. You see, it’s just not possible to live a positive life – one of hope, joy, peace, love and purpose – with a negative mind.

What we think about and how we think about it, frames both our internal and external worlds and determines what we get out of life. 

Today, we are encouraged from the Word of God to fix our thoughts on that which is true, honourable, right, pure and lovely. We are to meditate on things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

So, what are we fixing our thoughts on? What’s been going through your mind these days? Has there been a lot of negative thoughts that have robbed you of your peace and joy? Have you been disappointed with yourself?  Are you mentally rehearsing your faults, mistakes and past failures? Or, are you mediating on the truth – what God says about you – that you are precious, special, full of potential and that all things will work together for your good?

By constantly thinking negative, discouraging, judgmental thoughts we create an inner environment in which it is harder to be creative and to produce something good! We can’t tap into our potential and live a fulfilled life if we are consistently thinking negatively about ourselves. 

My friend, we must be careful, because if we sow it, we will reap it. If we sow negativity, we will reap negativity. If we positive thoughts, we will reap positive, healthy minds.

To start, let’s do an exercise. Make a list of your good qualities, things that you enjoy about you…

Now, celebrate those qualities and give thanks to God for you today! Choose to be positive. Choose to dwell on that which is good. Surrender to God the areas that you need help in and believe that He will help you. Let your positive outlook on life begin today!
