Your Word for This Day: “Faithfulness and Gratitude”

Thursday, June 9, 2016

“In every situation [no matter what the circumstances] be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 AMP

thanks

You’re alive. You’re breathing. You’re in your right mind. You’re reading this devotional. There are so many things in life that we can give thanks for! God is faithful!

I’m sure you can agree with me when I say that no one likes to be around unhappy, cynical and ungrateful people. Yup, you know just what I’m talking about. Have you ever met a person who doesn’t just see the cup as half-empty, but sees it as dirty, chipped, leaking and the wrong colour too??

Our faith in God encourages us not to have a negative look on life, rather to have a positive, thankful outlook because we can be confident that God is with us and fighting for us and working out all things for our good.

Faithful people have an attitude of gratitude.

People who are faithful to God and faithful in service to Him are people who understand that God is in control. He has the Master’s plan and there is nothing that happens by chance. Faithfulness to God spurs us on to truly praise Him and give Him thanks even when we do not understand what is happening.

That’s why it’s so important that we are always growing in our faithfulness to God.

Faith in God keeps you grounded. You are not easily moved in the storms of life, nor do you go with popular opinion. With the help of the Holy Spirit, you stand on the Word of God, are secure in His love and press through to the end.

Faith in God keeps you focused.  You are aware of your motive to please God and you know what you are working towards. You will not be distracted, deterred or derailed. When the bumps in the road come, you buckle your seatbelt and hold on for the ride!

As faithful children of God, we should not be easily moved. In the midst of dire straits we can still praise our faithful God, instead of complain.

So we must ask ourselves today:

  • How faithful am I to give thanks to God?
  • Do I display my faithfulness and loyalty to God by giving thanks to Him in every situation, no matter what the circumstances?

My friend, may our faithfulness be upgraded as we learn to give God thanks no matter what. Giving thanks in all things is the will of God for us in Christ Jesus – of that we can be sure.

Blessings,

Michelle
