Your Word for This Day: “What you Think Matters!”

Wednesday, July 6, 2016

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2

what-you-think (1)

Yesterday, we were reminded that what we say matters. There is great power in our words – life and death are in the power of the tongue – so we should be careful of what we say over our lives and over the lives of others. Today, I share with you this: Not only does what we say matter, what we THINK matters too!

The Bible tells us, “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” The thoughts that we think and meditate on determine the quality of live that we live – they actually shape the words that we say and create our reality.

And, if our words should be in agreement with the word of God, how much more our thoughts?

There is no way that we can think negative, self-condemning and self-defeating thoughts and live a positive, productive and blessed life! The only real way to experience the dimension of abundant living that Jesus Christ has given to us is to bring our thoughts, our mindsets, into agreement with what God says. And this is very possible!

As we meditate on the truth of the Word of God, our minds are renewed. When we spend time in the word, we are training ourselves to think about life the way that God does. And as we mediate and ponder His words of life, we begin to adopt a Kingdom-mentality. Which is very different from the world’s way of thinking.

The world thinks this way: get revenge, it’s all about me, exploit others to get ahead, keep everything for a rainy day, do what feels good…

The Word thinks this way: love your enemies, it’s all about God, serve others to lead well, store up your treasure in heaven, do what honours God…

And, there is such a ripple effect. As our thinking changes, so too will our attitude change. We will begin to be more expectant, more thankful, more giving, more serving, more patient, and more compassionate and all of this causes us to enjoy life more.

Sometimes we miss out on opportunities to see the favour of God manifest in our lives because of our mindsets. Walking in Favour demands a favour-minded mindset. We can’t be thinking negative, limited and small and walk in Divine favour. Our thinking must upgrade and our mindset must shift, and for that, we need the word!

God’s will for us is to experience and enjoy His favour, so let’s challenge ourselves today to mediate on His word and to settle for nothing less than His best for us!
