“Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. “ 1 Peter 3:8
Unique, United individuals
Truth, Trust and Togetherness as we are
Yielded and Yolked together for PURPOSE!!
I recently read this acronym for Unity and I thought it was great! It describes some of the elements that are needed to develop unity among us as we do life together.
U: Unique, United Individuals
We are not all the same, we are different – God made us that way. But, that does not mean that we can’t unite. Puzzles contain many pieces of different shapes and colours, but each one is necessary to complete the entire picture. And, so it is with us. What you have I need, and what I have you need. The picture isn’t complete unless each person brings their piece and unite together for a common good!
When we think of networking, a wine and cheese business schmooze or an high-pressure sales event might come to mind, but it is not always so. Networking involves a coming together, a connecting (like a net) to work together for a purpose. We pool and share our resources to achieve what we couldn’t separately. We form valuable connections and create a strong network that enables us to combine our energies to produce results.
If we aren’t intentional about being unified, we will not be. The more diverse the group, the more intentional we must be. We must do things that will foster unity within our life groups such as having unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble minds. Thing’s like gossip, seeking revenge and selfishness will work against unity, and should be avoided.
I believe that these elements are necessary to develop unity – whether in our homes, in our workplaces, or in our communities. What do you think about this description so far? How is it challenging what you think about unity? Is it challenging the way you think about unity?
Tomorrow, we will continue with our acronym! See you then, same time, same place!
Until, Be blessed!
