Your Word for This Day: “Living Chosen and Set Apart”

Friday, August 12, 2016

“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” 1 Peter 2:9

Wow!! You are a chosen generation. To be chosen is to be selected among others, picked from the rest.  There must be others for one to be chosen from them.  Imagine, God is saying to you that He has chosen you: “You, yes you, my friend. You are my chosen generation.”

Your generation is in line for blessings because God has chosen you and has decided to bless you.  You did not choose Him, He chose you.  Is not this truth just too wonderful for words?

But that is not all.  He is making you a royal priesthood. The priesthood reserved for the Levites in the Old Testament times was a shadow of the new and greater priesthood that Jesus, the Great High Priest, has made available to us – you and me.  You are a royal priest, part of a holy nation, and a peculiar people. Do not worry if others find you strange.  You are supposed to be set apart and different from the children of the world.  It is all part of your heritage and your destiny.

You have been chosen to show God to the world.

You have been transformed to shine as the light of the world, radiating the light of Jesus.

You are called to stand out, being a beacon of light and hope in this dark world, attracting those who are in need to come and feed on the Word of God and experience His love.

As we grow in Christ we must always remember that we were once in the kingdom of darkness and this must propel us to help those who are still there, through our love and our prayers.  Thank God for His marvelous light that He has allowed us to enter and enjoy. Remember these words: chosen, selected, hand-picked by God and let them brighten your day. Be blessed.

Lord, please help me to see myself as You see me.  I agree with You and I pray that I will walk worthy of this great call to be one of the chosen ones.   Amen.
