“Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” Hebrews 13:8
Every time I am privileged to see a sunrise or a sunset, I am amazed at its beauty. No two of them are the same. Each is such a panoramic display of beauty and splendor that it causes me to appreciate the awesome power of our mighty God.
Many things in life change. The sunsets change. We change. Hairstyles change. Fashion changes. Automobiles change. The weather changes. In fact I have heard it said that the only permanent thing in life is change itself and so we should not resist it because it will inevitably happen. But, thank God there is one change that will never occur and that is God. He is immutable, He changes not.
Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, and today and forever.
Upon this truth we build our lives. Jesus is the rock, the solid unchangeable rock on which we must build our lives. Everything else goes through some type of change, proving to be unreliable foundations. If we build our lives on those things we will always be unsure of the outcome. As we build our lives on God, we are confident that just as He was in the beginning, He will be at the ending.
Whatever you may be facing today, remember that your God cannot change. He delivered Daniel from the lion’s den; He fed Elijah by a raven; He let Israel drink water from a rock; He healed Peter’s mother-in-law; He fed thousands with five loaves and two fishes and He raised Jairus’ dead daughter back to life.
Your God is still the same. Don’t believe the lies of the enemy. He has not changed. He is still working all things together for your good. Trust Him today and build your life on His Word. Be like the wise man who built his house upon the rock, and when the winds and rains beat upon the house, it did not fall because the foundation, Jesus Christ, was firm, solid and immovable.
Dear God, I praise You for who You are. I take courage and find strength in You. Lord I pray for the grace to build my life on Your word. Help me to anchor myself in You today because I know that though things may change around me, You will never change. Amen.
