“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23:6
The main goal of following the Shepherd and experiencing His goodness and love is that one day we would be with Him forever.
But as we journey along with Him, we get to live with Him on a daily basis. Living with our Shepherd allows us to enjoy all that He has to offer us.
Psalm 16:11 says: “In [His] presence there is fullness of joy, and at [His right] hand there are pleasures forevermore.
There is the present blessing and the future blessing of dwelling with God. We cannot lose at all.
To dwell is to live.
The Shepherd would not force us to dwell, we have to choose to dwell with him.
We have to give up our wills and desires. We have to deny ourselves and make the conscious decision to dwell with Him knowing that when we dwell in Him we are made strong. In Him we live, in Him we move, and in Him we have our being (Acts 17:28).
When we dwell in Him, we are dwelling in our place of abundance, our wealthy place. (Ps. 66:12)
In eternity, we would continue to dwell in Him. That would be the ultimate culmination of our journey.
Until then, let us desire to dwell with Him. Let us choose to dwell in Him. Let us reap all the benefits available to us as we make our Shepherd’s presence our dwelling place.
I choose to dwell in the secret place of the Most High and I will continually abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
