“And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, “Rejoice!” So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him.” Matthew 28:9
The women ran from the tomb with good news to share. Just when it looked as if all was lost, they learned that it was not as they had thought. Jesus was not dead, in fact, He was very much alive! According to the report of the angel at the tomb, Jesus had risen, just as He said He would.
As the women ran to tell the rest of the disciples, they met the risen Saviour on the way and His first word to them was “Rejoice!” And the women worshipped Him.
Encountering Jesus Christ is indeed a moment of joy. Just as for these women, when we encounter the risen Christ in our lives, there is much to rejoice about.
He paid the ultimate price so that our sins would be forgiven. Rejoice!
He gave His life so that we would not perish but have eternal life. Rejoice!
He endured the pain of torture so that we would be healed of our diseases. Rejoice!
He was rejected by men, scored at and ridiculed, so that we would be accepted in to the family of God and have a rich inheritance. Rejoice!
He did it all for you and for me, to secure us a future and a hope. Rejoice
My friend, are you rejoicing? Is the life of Christ in you what causes you to smile and enjoy each moment of your day?
Let us rejoice and be glad, worshipping the Lord with our entire being, knowing that He is the reason why we are alive today.
