Your Word for This Day: “Lord, Give me Wisdom!”

“For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Proverbs 2:6

Wisdom is absolutely necessary for the child of God. It helps us to make the right decisions, to say the right things and to do the right things. So many negative things in our lives could be avoided if we were to walk in wisdom. And, we could access and enjoy more the blessings of God if we applied wisdom. But, how do we get wisdom? Well, true wisdom comes from the Lord who is the all-wise One, and all we have to do is to ask Him for it.

James 1:5 says, “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.”

God desires that His children be wise. So, if we ask the Lord for wisdom, He will give it to us.

There are 2 main ways that the Lord gives wisdom to those who ask Him for it: through Instruction and Devotion. Today, we will look at Instruction.

Firstly, God releases His wisdom to us through the instructions that He gives us in His Word. As we read and listen to the word of God we learn how God sees and thinks about all that concerns life. As we meditate on His words and allow them to become a part of our thinking, our minds are renewed and our perspectives will change. We begin to allow wisdom to influence our speech and actions.

Secondly, God releases His wisdom to us through the instructions that He gives us through those who He has placed in authority over our lives. Our parents, spiritual mentors and leaders, are ordained by God to aid us in the process of spiritual transformation. We gain wisdom from their journeys with the Lord and the lessons they have learned along the way.

It is not impossible to become wise and to make the right choices in life. On the contrary! Wisdom is available to all who ask and seek for it. In the Word of God, we find the wisdom that we need to live successfully on this earth.  Will you ask the Lord for wisdom today?
