“To know wisdom and instruction, to perceive the words of understanding, To receive the instruction of wisdom, Justice, judgment, and equity.” Proverbs 1:2-3
There are so many benefits for pursuing wisdom, attaining wisdom and living in wisdom. As we gain wisdom, we are protected, watched over, exalted, honoured, adorned with grace, crowned with splendor, given long life and receive riches.
Today, we will look at how we are protected by wisdom.
Proverbs 4:6 says “Don’t turn your back on wisdom, for she will protect you. Love her, and she will guard you.”
When we turn our backs to wisdom, meaning when we choose to ignore and reject God’s wisdom for our lives, we leave ourselves open to all types of negative things. There are always consequences from making unwise decisions. Foolish behaviour produces bad fruit.
Instead of turning our backs to wisdom we should face wisdom head on. As we seek out and embrace godly wisdom – the ability to discern between what is right and wrong in any given opportunity – and act in accordance with what is right, we will be protected from harm – physical, emotional, mental and spiritual injury and harm. We are shielded from the assaults of the evil one. We are preserved to be able to fulfill God’s will for our lives.
If we love wisdom, she will guard us. She will watch over us and help us to stay close to the word of God. Wisdom will help you to control your thoughts, words and actions so that you live a peaceable and positive life and be a good influence on others.
My friend, how we need wisdom! How we need to know what is right and true and what is wrong and false. How we need to wisdom to live out the abundant life!
Moment of Reflection: Think of your own life, in which ways have you been protected and guarded by wisdom?
