“To give prudence to the simple, To the young man knowledge and discretion—A wise man will hear and increase learning, And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel.” Proverbs 1:4-5
We continue to look at the benefits of wisdom in our lives – and there are many. Wisdom protects us and watches over us, like a loving and attentive mother protecting and watching over her precious children. Today, we will look at how we are promoted by wisdom.
Proverbs 4:8 says “Exalt her, and she will promote you…”
To exalt wisdom is to lift it up and hold it in high esteem. A person who exalts wisdom recognizes its value and worth and always speaks of it in a very high regard.
When we really value and lift up wisdom, we are demonstrating maturity. Why? Because we understand and acknowledge 1)That we don’t know it all – we see and know in part, and; 2) That we need God’s wisdom to help us to see and think correctly. So, we seek out to learn more and to receive as much wise counsel as we can so that we can move forward in a good way.
When we exalt wisdom, she promotes us – we advance into new opportunities, new levels, new territories and new blessings. We access what we couldn’t have accessed before and we receive that which was just out of our reach.
I believe that many of us desire to move forward in different areas of our lives, we want to experience promotion, not just on our jobs, but in relationships, finances, ministry, health and more. The key here is to exalt wisdom. Continue to ask for wisdom, seek wisdom and go after it. Your experience of life can only get better!
Moments of Reflection: Think of a moment in your life when you advanced in some way because of your acting in accordance with Godly wisdom. What happened in that situation? How could things have been different if you didn’t act wisely?
