Seeking after wisdom is a win-win-win situation. We win because of all the benefits and rewards that come from living wisely. Wisdom wins because she is exalted and others get to see how important and valuable she is, and hopefully, will seek after her as well. People win as well as we share the wisdom that we have received with them.
Wisdom protects us, watches overs and also promotes us. Those who use godly wisdom will advance in life and walk in the abundance that God has provided for them. Today, in our in-depth look at wisdom, we will see that wisdom also honors those who find her.
Proverbs 4:8 closes off by saying, “She [Wisdom] will bring you honor, when you embrace her.”
In embracing wisdom – fully taking her in and making her an integral part of your life – you will be honored. This has a two-fold meaning: 1) Having wisdom in your life is in and of itself an honor. She is precious and only comes to those who really desire her in their lives. 2) As wisdom operates in your life, you will begin to be thought of and seen by others with great respect. When people begin to hear you speaking and see you acting wisely, they will notice the difference. Many will want to learn from you, and desire to know what you know.
Have you ever been in the company of a really wise person? I have and I love those opportunities to sit and listen to what he or she is saying so that I can learn from them and be able to apply the wisdom they have gained to my own life.
We must always remember just how priceless wisdom is. The process through which it is obtained is not easy. People have to press, seek, search to find wisdom and it is usually found in hidden places. And those who make the journey will be honored by her.
Moment of Reflection: Name one person that you have met that is very wise? What are some of the nuggets of wisdom that you have received from him or her? How have those nuggets changed your life?
