Your Word for This Day: “Wisdom for Living: Moving”

Wednesday, May 31, 2017

“Let your eyes look straight ahead, and your eyelids look right before you. Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established. Do not turn to the right or the left; remove your foot from evil.” Proverbs 4:25-27

WISDOM FOR MOVING

Life is a journey and each day we take steps in a certain direction. Yes, physically we are always moving either on foot, in a car or in an airplane, but we also move either forward or backward or to the left or right by the decisions that we make.

Let me explain.

The choices we make each day affects our lives in a particular way. When we are faced with a decision, the choice we make will determine if we will move forward in life or take some steps backwards. Every decision has a consequence – whether good or bad. And, that is why we need the wisdom of God to make the right decisions for our lives.

You need wisdom to continue on the path that God has designed specifically for you.

Along your life’s journey, you will face many distractions and there will be many a-fork-in-the-road. There will be opinions of others and strong suggestions from the media. How do you continue to move forward towards your destiny?

Wisdom will help you.

As we ask God for His wisdom, He will help us to correctly apply the principles of His word that we have learned to our unique situations. He will lead us to people who are walking in wisdom who can share their knowledge with us. He will, by His Holy Spirit, guide us into all truth. God will do His part, but we must do ours and that is to keep our eyes focused on Jesus.

Wisdom tells us to fix our gaze on Him. When we lose sight of Jesus- the “why” for which we are alive on the earth – and focus on the material things of life, the challenges that we face and even our fleshly desires, our feet will go where our eyes direct them.

I encourage you today, as I encourage myself: keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. Recall to mind the purpose for which you exist, the assignment that you are here on the earth to accomplish and the path that He has been carrying you on and FOCUS. I pray that we all press on with our eyes on the prize… “Forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, [we] press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

In Jesus’ Name!

Have a victorious day!
