Your Word for This Day: “What Are You REALLY Looking At?”

Tuesday, June 6, 2017

“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.” Matthew 6: 31-32

In life, there are things that can cause us to become very anxious, fearful, and worrisome if we choose to focus on them. But, God does not want His children to worry. He doesn’t want us to fear for what the future will bring. You see, He knows what we have need of and He desires to provide for us as any good Father would. He is taking care of you today!

God knows our needs.

God is interested in our welfare.

God loves us with an unconditional love.

And for these reasons, and many more, we can trust in His ability to take care of us, and not stress ourselves out with the sole pursuit of material things.

When we focus primarily on things of the earth, then the things of the earth will become our gods. When we use our energy to run after these things, we can only seek God with what energy we have left over. And, He is deserving of so much more.

When our thoughts are consumed by clothes, food, houses, cars and money, we cannot really love and serve God of with all of our hearts, mind, soul and strength – and this is to be our highest goal in life.

A very wise woman once told me, “If you put God first, you cannot come last.” It’s just impossible to fail in life when you are focusing on God and your desire is to do His will in the earth.

Friends, God never loses at anything. He is never overcome by anything. He doesn’t get flustered by our challenges or thrown off course by life’s twists and turns. He knows it all and He promises that when we seek Him, He will take care of all that concerns us.  So, today, I ask you: “What are your really looking at?” What are you focusing on? What’s at the center of your gaze?

If we choose to focus on God, trusting Him for every day that we are alive, He will lead us in paths of righteousness. He will prepare tables of feasting before us. He will guide and cause us to walk victoriously! That’s the God that we serve!
