Your Word for This Day: “He will Give You what You NEED”

“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” Matthew 6: 33

Yesterday, we looked at the importance of putting God first in our lives. It is the only way to truly live the abundant life that Jesus Christ has given to us. Above all else, we must seek, pursue, and chase after the things of God. We must use our energies for making Him and what He has done for us known on the earth.

As we go after the things of God, He promises to take care of what we have need of. Let’s read that carefully… He will give us everything that we need, not everything that we want. And there my friend, is the big difference. God knows what’s best for us. He knows what we need to live the life that He has called us to.

Many times, what we want is not really good for us.

You see, we are limited in our understanding as to what is good for us. Often, we want what will bring us the greatest comfort, make life easier and cause us to look and feel good. But, God knows what is truly good for us. He gives us everything that we need, and the most important things are those which can’t be seen or touched. God gives us peace, grace, love, the ability to endure, wisdom, and more so that we can make it to eternity with Him.

God’s ultimate Goal is that we would not perish, but be saved and live forever with Him in eternity. This is why Jesus came, died and rose again. That is why God provides for us. And that is why we must seek first His Kingdom – to ensure that we are getting the right things that we need as children of God and that our life with God after we die is secured. This must be our ultimate goal!
