“So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” Genesis 1:27
So many times we find our identity in the wrong places. We believe that because we are good in one area or another, that is who we are. We hear our friends describing us in terms that do not really talk about us but really talk about what we do: “He/she is an artist… a musician… a computer genius… a talented CEO… a doctor… a teacher… a great father…”
BUT, our identity is not found in those things. Our identity is only found in God.
We are not what we DO, we are who God created us to BE.
Until we can discover our true identity in Him and how we uniquely express His image that we were created in, we will always live with the labels that others give us, and miss out a great part of our lives. Just think, if you were to stop doing all the things that you do, who would you be? If you were removed from the roles and the positions that you occupy now, would you be able to still live a happy life? Who are you at your core?
Do you know the real you?
Decide today to discover the true you. It is the most important discovery you will ever make. Take some time today and meditate on today’s scripture and ask the Holy Spirit to bring it to life in your heart. You were made in the image and likeness of God… What does that really mean for you?
