Your Word for This Day: “Overcoming Challenges!”

Wednesday, October 4, 2017

“David therefore departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam. So when his brothers and all his father’s house heard it, they went down there to him. And everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him. So he became captain over them. And there were about four hundred men with him.” 1 Samuel 22:1-2

God has given us promises that he will keep. He is not a man that He will promise us something and then fail to do it. It does not matter how long it takes once it is the word from the mouth of God it will come to pass. It must come to pass.  And, on the way for His word coming to pass in our lives we will encounter challenged. But, God has given us the power to overcome every obstacle in our path!

How do we overcome challenges?

Overcoming some challenges can be as simple as remembering that nothing lasts forever. Even though this may appear to be a rather simplistic thought, it is actually true.

When you are in the middle of a tough situation, you should stop and smell the roses and remember that the situation will pass. The Bible often quotes that “It came to pass.” We often get caught up in the drama and the stress of a challenge or obstacle. This blinds us to the reality that this moment is simply a stepping-stone to where we are going.

King David understood this so much that even when he was running for his life he did not let it cloud his vision of his future. He knew that God would surely bring to pass what He had ordained. This fact kept David focused on his purpose. He developed his leadership skills as he managed those who followed him. He worked on his relationship with God. He prepared himself for the role to come. Keeping focus in the midst of a challenge is extremely important.

Do not lose sight of the purpose for which you were born.
